A few weeks ago, this giant, mysterious, LED heart appeared in the Excelsior — the photo with the arrow pointing to it is the view from our back porch. It’s about a mile away and is on every night. The colors cycle from purple, to red, to green, and then blue. Finally, we couldn’t take the curiosity anymore and went to go find it. It turns out — and this is the crazy part — it’s not visible from the street, it’s attached to the *back* of a house on Alemany, where it intersects with Harrington. The closest view we could get is from approximately 732 Cayuga, where the bottom two photos were taken, and you can see the top of the heart poking out over the row of houses facing Cayuga with their backyards towards Alemany.
I have so many questions. Who put the heart up, and why? Why did they choose to only make it visible to people living on the hills across 280? Is it a Jesus thing, a burner thing, a Pride thing?
